And It's Not A Pretty Sight...
The reaction known as a Type II Smudge Reaction (sometimes called Jewelry Related Contact Dermatitis or also Black Dermographism) can be caused by a number of things. In fact, there is no one thing that dermatologists have been able to pin down as the reason. Some triggers can be citrus or salt intake, body chemistry, sweat and even stress. The Smudge Reaction is strange. Some people get it from all jewelry. Others react to only one ring or even when the ring is worn on a specific finger.
